Glenstal Abbey is a Benedictine monastery in County Limerick. A 500 acre estate with streams, lakes and woodland paths, surrounds a castle built in the romantic Norman style. The prayer and liturgical celebration of the monks combine with managing a boarding school for boys, a farm, and a guest house. The monks assemble in church five times a day for the Divine Office and the Mass. Benedictine worship emphasises beauty and harmony, celebrating God’s presence, while evoking a response of loving reverence in the monk.

We are very proud to be releasing our second cd with the Monks of Glenstal Abbey. It is a great pleasure to be working with such a fine institution to make these cd's which are so rewarding on so many levels. Dies Domini our latest recording from Glenstal Abbey features the monks chanting the principal parts of the Divine Office, (or Liturgy of the Hours) for Sunday. Employing a mixture of traditional Latin plainchant and modern chants in English, the monks sing the most important offices of Morning and Evening Prayer – Lauds and Vespers, as well as the shorter, reflective office of Night Prayer – Compline. The recording also includes a number of organ pieces. Together, they comprise a fitting musical and liturgical celebration of the Dies Domini – the Lord’s Day.

The cd is released in Ireland on 27th October 2007 and is also available here. Check out the sample tracks below. Click on the links to play or right-click on the link and select 'save as' to download the tracks.
